Chili update: first seedlings spotted

Last week (7th of April) I planted the second batch of seeds (Cayennes, Scotch Bonnets and Jalapenos) so I’ve sown all seeds that I have and of which I know the variety. I have a packet of South African ‘hot chilli mix’ left which I’ll sow shortly too.

The batch that I planted first has started to sprout. I’ve spotted 5 or 6 seedlings and they grew 3 or 4 millimeters in one day yesterday. What probably helped was that yesterday was an unusually warm day for this early in April with temperatures going to 25 degrees C and up. Yay for global warming, I guess.

First chili plants for this year seeded

I planted the first seeds for this year’s chili experiment. I’ll (try to) grow 8 species this year, I’ve started with planting 20 seeds each of habaneros, santa fe’s, rawit’s and fresno’s. Pictures to follow later, in the mean time check http://www.g6csy.net/chile/index.html. If you have any good recipes that I can use these chilis in in a few months after the first harvest let me know - for now all I have is an ok-ish laser chicken with last year’s cayenne’s :/
